Your privacy is important to us. Elder Financial Safety Center values and respects an individual’s right to keep certain personally identifiable information private and confidential.  We therefore maintain a strict privacy policy, and any information that you provide to us will be kept in confidence.  Personally identifiable information will only be shared on a need-to-know basis among our own employees.  The only time your personally identifiable information is shared with an outside person is with your specific permission or under the limited circumstances described below in How We Use the Information.”

Elder Financial Safety Center advises all children under the age of 18 to seek parental consent before making a donation or transmitting other information to Elder Financial Safety Center.

What Activities Are Covered

This Privacy Policy applies to activities of Elder Financial Safety Center and to persons visiting Elder Financial Safety Center Web site, signing up for mailings, or entering into private transactions with Elder Financial Safety Center. This Privacy Policy also covers the collection, use, storage and disclosure of information and data as described below.

What Information May Be Collected

During your visit to Elder Financial Safety Center Web site or during other communications with Elder Financial Safety Center, we may collect personally identifiable information about you. Personally identifiable information includes, but is not limited to, name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, social security number, birthdate, family history, health conditions, financial information, and other case details.  If a person donates to Elder Financial Safety Center, Elder Financial Safety Center may collect additional personally identifiable Information, such as the donor’s credit card number, card type, expiration date and record of the financial transaction.

Users are welcome to search our Web site, participate in services and contribute to the information contained on our Web site.  In some areas of the Web site it is necessary to collect personally identifiable information about our users in order to allow participation in a particular activity or to communicate with the user. Such areas include our Job Search Site registration process and our on-line Donation Form. Elder Financial Safety Center does not wish to collect more personally- identifiable information from those who visit our Web site than is necessary to establish eligibility for and allow participation in our online activities.

Each user controls the amount and type of individually identifiable information that he or she chooses to disclose to us.  You may choose not to enter personally identifiable information, although this may mean that certain features of our Web site may not be available to you.

How Information Is Collected and Protected

Elder Financial Safety Center currently collects personally-identifying information in the following situations: (i) if you communicate the information to us (including but not limited to:  in person, by mail, by phone, by fax, by e-mail, or through our Web site via a form or search request); (ii) if you register on the Web site; (iii) if your Web browser provides information to our Web server, i.e., Log-File information; or (iv) if your information is provided to us for the purpose of informing you of the programs, services, and efforts of Elder Financial Safety Center.

We do not sell, rent, share, or otherwise disclose mailing lists under any circumstances, and we do not disclose your personally identifiable information to an outside person without permission.

Elder Financial Safety Center takes reasonable and appropriate measures to keep personally identifiable information confidential and in a secure environment, including taking appropriate action in the event of unauthorized disclosure.  Access to personally identifiable information is restricted to only those employees with a legitimate business purpose.  Credit card information, including the card number, type of card, and expiration date, is secured after processing of the charge is complete.

Elder Financial Safety Center Web site has security measures in place designed to help protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control, including an encryption feature for donations made via our Web site.  However, Elder Financial Safety Center will not be liable for disclosure of your personally identifiable information due to errors in transmission or unauthorized acts of third parties. We have undertaken commercially reasonable efforts to prevent unauthorized Internet access to visitor data retained in our servers, however, Elder Financial Safety Center cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or any information provided online, and you do so at your own risk. Users must accept all risks associated with any data transmission, including the risk that their personal information may be intercepted in transit.

How We Use the Information

The personally identifiable information collected by Elder Financial Safety Center on our Web site or through other communications may be used to tailor our site and to provide you with services. Elder Financial Safety Center may aggregate your personally identifiable information with other information in a way that does not allow anyone to identify you individually. We may provide this aggregate information to third parties as we deem appropriate, such as to show a potential partner or funder the demographic profile of our users.

Elder Financial Safety Center will disclose personally identifiable information and other information in the event that any applicable law or regulation requires such disclosure or if the disclosure is compelled by any court order. Elder Financial Safety Center may disclose personally identifiable information if we choose to cooperate with an investigation by or reporting requirement of a law enforcement agency or regulatory agency. Elder Financial Safety Center may also disclose personally identifiable information of a Web site user if we are seeking to enforce our legal rights against that user.

Why We Provide Links to Third Party Sites

We may make content or services from other Web sites available to you from links located on our Web site. These “other” domains (Web sites) are not controlled or endorsed by Elder Financial Safety Center. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy policies of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable information. Visiting sites linked from our Web site is at your own risk.

The registered logo of Elder Financial Safety Center may not be used or reproduced without written permission.  Any individual, organization or company wishing to use the logo must obtain the right to do so in writing from an authorized administrative staff member of Elder Financial Safety Center.
